The owner of McCray’s Backyard BBQ, Derrick McCray, received a special honor.
Children’s Oasis International named McCray as Man of the Year for his community efforts during a fundraising banquet in June.
“I want to thank God for blessing me with two great parents,” said McCray. “Everything I do is a testament to them, their integrity and their love for the community.”
A number of local dignitaries including Dan Callaway attended the event.
Sheila Ross received similar honors as the Woman of the Year.
“I say thank you Children’s Oasis. This is what I was taught to do,” said Ross.
