Derrick McCray, a local businessman who has given so much to his community, gave back a little more on Tuesday night.
The owner of McCray’s Backyard Bar-B-Q hosted a topping-off ceremony at the site of his new restaurant on 45th Street in Mangonia Park.
The event coincided with the anniversary of the death of McCray’s father. Herman McCray opened the first McCray’s Bar-B-Q in Riviera Beach in the 70s.
Several hundred guests, city and county leaders, and community dignitaries enjoyed McCray’s barbecue, live music, and drinks.
The new restaurant is scheduled to open on Memorial Day.
